We're clearing out the not-as-nicely manicured Wombleton back room!

We at Wombleton Records, as we prepare for our upcoming buying trip to England & Scotland next week, have had the last-minute inspiration to clear out some 45s to make room for the incoming shipment of goodies. Additionally, a friend of ours will be selling hundreds of 70s & 80s soul, r&b, disco & pop 45s at cheap price points $1.00, $2.00. None of these have seen the light of day- and we haven’t had time to screen for rare boogie, so get yourselves over to Wombleton this upcoming Sunday May 13th between noon & 6pm.

In the store we’ll have the following discounts for ONE DAY ONLY… including on our recent white hot Holland arrivals (glam, cosmic disco, post-punk) which we normally wouldn’t put on sale for another two or three months, so come scoop it up!

Wombleton is starting a monthly DJ Party at a real ‘class’ joint called MONTY BAR downtown. Our new night, THE WOMBLE HOP, will happen on the first Sunday of every month. We had our freshman initiation party last weekend (smashing time had by all) and we’re doing a one-off at the same venue TONIGHT (Friday May 11th 10pm til late) with DJ buddies Ian Marshall & Chad Brown! (see flyer below)

There’s nothing quite like the buzz of Xmas shopping at a big, bustling record store during this time of the season. Whether it was Virgin on Oxford Street, HMV in Piccadilly, Sam’s or A&A’s on Yonge Street, Tower at 4th & Broadway, I was always doing my last-minute holiday hustle at those sorts of places. Sadly, most all of those spots have shut their doors… but you can still get that vibe in at least ONE place on the planet. Right here in Los Angeles at AMOEBA MUSIC. And tonight we will be playing a strange Futur-Edwardian soundtrack which would normally only be heard emanating from our little Wombleton sound system or possibly at the odd WOW! EVEN MORE RECORDS FROM THE UK!

At Wombleton Records we don’t just sit around waiting for cool records to slowly trickle in over the trade counter… and we don’t haunt the local thrift shops and swap meets to dig the same old crud as everybody else. Instead we take action! We risk life, limb and finances to travel overseas on a semi-regular basis gathering rare LPs and 45s to give you something interesting and different to browse through at our shop. This sort of browsing will be going on TOMORROW to an extreme degree THIS TUES DEC 13th at 8pm when we fill up the shelves with roughly 1000 fresh, used imported LPs and 300 singles!

How does it work? Well, it’s as easy as 1-2-3:

1) Just stop by Wombleton in the next week or so, pick up a blank WISH LIST from the front counter, then have a look around!

2) Write down up to ten records we have in stock that you’d like to see under the Xmas tree, in place of your “gelt” for the Jewish tradition or as Zawadi in observance of Kwanzaa this holiday season.

3) Fill in the names / email addresses of the folks who you want to get the list, whether it’s your parents, your best friend, your employer, your partner or your secret lover. Then drop off the form at the front counter.

And voila, you’re done! We’ll take it from there. Even if your gift-giver lives out of town, we can accept credit card payments from afar… gift wrapping & delivery available within reason- but that’s their problem.

Our Gift Certificates are always nice, of course, but why not let your loved ones get a little more personal with their gifts… fill out a 2011 Wombleton Wish List! We can’t guarantee everything on your list will still be in the shop by the time whoever it is responds, so make sure you write down a few extras.
